- Confused about Medicare? Not to worry, Jessica Arruda is on a Mission to help you put the puzzle pieces together and help you understand the ABC’s and Ds of Medicare, as well as show you your options so that you will be able to make a better, informed decision about your current and future healthcare needs. Jessica is from the big island. She spent her wonder years running around the Waiakea Uka. By the time she reached middle school her family relocated to Kwajalein aka “Down Under.” This was during President Reagan’s era when he fired all 11,000 Air Traffic Controllers across the country. Her father was an Air Traffic Controller at the time, fortunately he acquired a job in Kwajalein before the mass firing. Kwajalein is a US military base, it is approximately 2.5 miles long and .5 miles wide, there are no cars there only bicycles. Jessica attended Kwajalein Jr Sr High School from 7th grade and became a graduate in 1987. She returned to Hilo after graduation to attend Hawaii Community College where she earned an Associate Degree in Accounting. She went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology from the University of Hawaii at Hilo and a Master of Arts Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Argosy University Hawaii. Jessica joined Financial Benefits Insurance in 2013 and started helping people with Medicare in 2016. It is here where she discovered how much she enjoys helping individuals with Medicare understand their healthcare options, as well as educating community partners on Medicare so they can better direct their clients with their Medicare needs. Whether you are a Medicare Beneficiary, soon to be Medicare beneficiary, Guardian, Physician, Case manager, Service Coordinator or Community Partner you can count on Jessica to be there for you. Today, Jessica is a wife, a mother of five children (1 daughter and 4 sons), she is also a daughter, a sister, an aunty and a mother-in-law, a sister-in-law, a friend and believe it or not even a grandmother of 9 grandchildren all under the age of 8 with one more on the way. She is catching up to her boss (in grandbabies). Although Jessica is not a Medicare beneficiary, she has helped hundreds of people with and without Medicare to understand their healthcare coverage and options. She also has family members who are Medicare Beneficiaries like her parents, husband and one of her sons who has a physical disability. During her spare time, Jessica loves to entertain family and friends with her fabulous cookware that makes her food taste good. She is also a huge believer in being prepared for the unexpected and is always willing to teach people about emergency preparedness, especially since we live on an island. Jessica enjoys spending time on her vertical gardens and loves harvesting fresh live veggies for her family and friends. She loves to crochet amigurumi or puzzles when she has nothing else to do. But her absolute favorite solo thing she likes to do is create beautiful handmade cards with her rubber stamp collection.
